Joy Walton

Council Chair
 

Dr. Joy Walton is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Nationwide Children's Hospital. A native of Columbus, she completed both her undergraduate and medical degrees at the Ohio State University. She then relocated to upstate NY for residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center, completing her training in 2011. After a brief stint in Texas, she returned home in 2013 where she now works part-time as an adult hospitalist with OhioHealth and a primary care pediatrician at NCH, caring for children and adults with complex medical needs. As a faculty member, she enjoys helping medical students navigate a career in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics while finding work-life balance. She has been the recipient of the Quality of Care award in 2016 and is also a member of the Antimicrobial Stewardship and Ethics Committee, where she serves as co-chair. Dr. Walton lives in Westerville with her husband and 3 children.

 
 

Aaron Badenhop

Aaron received a B.A. from The Ohio State University, M.Div. from Ashland Theological Seminary, and D.Min. in Leadership and Spiritual Formation from Portland Seminary of George Fox University. Aaron has worked in campus ministry with Cru for more than 15 years, and is the program director for The Thompson Institute, a network of Christian faculty and scholars at OSU. He is married to Elisabeth and has two young daughters.

Robert Hoffman

Robert P. Hoffman, MD, is a member of the Section of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Nationwide Children's Hospital and a Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He received his medical degree from The Ohio State University in 1981, followed by pediatric internship and residency at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron, Ohio, and a pediatric endocrine fellowship at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and ABP Sub-board of Pediatric Endocrinology. Dr. Hoffman's research interests include hypoglycemia in Type 1 diabetes, insulin resistance, endothelial function and puberty. His teaching activities include education on Type 1 diabetes in children and adolescents, hypoglycemia in infants and children and growth disorders, regionally and internationally. Administratively, he is the director for the fellowship program and the coordinator for the attending, consultation and physician schedules for the division.

 

David Wininger

Dr. David Wininger is an infectious disease specialist in Columbus, Ohio and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and Nationwide Children's Hospital. He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and has been in practice for 31 years.

Abigail Menner

Council Member

Abigail Menner received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Ohio State University College of Optometry. She then went on to complete a residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Havener Eye Institute. Soon after, she joined a private practice in Worthington Hills called Vision Professionals. In 2019, she joined Clinical Faculty at The Ohio State University College of Optometry. She also continues to see patients at Vision Professionals. She also works as a Clinical Investigator seeing research subjects in clinical trials and contact lens-related research studies.

Jane Goleman 

Dr. M. Jane Goleman, before retirement, was a member of the Section of Ambulatory Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) and a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Goleman’s clinical interest is in primary care, ADHD, and doctor-patient communication and its impact on health outcomes. She was the medical lead for the Office of Health Equity at NCH, and a founding member of the Pediatric Health Equity Collaborative which is a national collaboration between pediatric organizations working together to eliminate disparities in health care and outcomes. Dr. Goleman earned her BS and MD degrees from The Ohio State University in 1979 and 1982. She completed a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1991, and a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 2010.

Sally Royse

Sally Royse was a highly-esteemed and loved member of our council, having represented the Side-by-Side ministry here in Columbus for many years. She went home to be with the Lord in the spring of 2024.
